Introducing the LIFT-OFF Program: A 9-Week Strength Cycle

This April, CrossFit Angier will embark on a 9-week cycle focusing on heavier Olympic lifting. The program, called LIFT-OFF, aims to improve your Snatch, Clean, and Jerk techniques through three distinct phases: building a strong base, refining technique, and maximizing efficiency for personal records. To ensure a solid foundation, the Burgener Warm-Up will be an essential part of each session.

Post-2023 CrossFit Open: New Goals and Fun Workouts

As the 2023 CrossFit Open comes to an end, we’ll refocus our training, dial back the intensity, and prioritize enjoyment. Prepare for bodyweight exercises and “Murph Prep Mondays” in the coming weeks.

Gymnastics: Mastering Ring Muscle Ups

Starting the week of March 20th, our gymnastics training will focus on Ring Muscle Ups. We’ll help beginners learn ring transitions and support, while advanced athletes work on cycling reps smoothly and efficiently.

April Monthly Challenge: 1000 Double-Unders

Join our April Monthly Challenge and aim to complete 1000 double-unders. Keep track of your progress on the gym whiteboard and push yourself to new heights.

Hero Workouts: Honoring Heroes and a Tragic Loss

In addition to our regular Hero/Girl Workouts, we’ll also be offering a special workout on April 8th in memory of Sadie Huffer, a fellow CrossFitter who tragically lost her life in a gym roof collapse. Participate in this workout to celebrate Sadie’s life and honor her memory.

Recipe of the Month: Greek Chicken Salad

Check out our featured recipe for April, a delicious and healthy Greek Chicken Salad. Share the recipe with fellow athletes and enjoy a tasty meal together.

Greek Chicken Salad Recipe:

Ingredients: For the Chicken:

  1. 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  2. 1/4 cup olive oil
  3. 2 tbsp lemon juice
  4. 2 tsp dried oregano
  5. 1 tsp garlic powder
  6. Salt and pepper, to taste

For the Salad:

  1. 6 cups mixed greens
  2. 1 cucumber, sliced
  3. 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  4. 1/4 cup red onion, thinly sliced
  5. 1/2 cup Kalamata olives
  6. 1/2 cup artichoke hearts, quartered
  7. 1 avocado, sliced

For the Dressing:

  1. 1/4 cup olive oil
  2. 2 tbsp red wine vinegar
  3. 1 tbsp lemon juice
  4. 1 tsp honey
  5. 1 clove garlic, minced
  6. Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions:

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together the olive oil, lemon juice, oregano, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Pour the marinade over the chicken breasts and let them marinate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours.
  2. Preheat the grill or a grill pan to medium-high heat. Cook the chicken for 5-6 minutes per side, or until cooked through. Remove from the grill and let it rest for a few minutes before slicing.
  3. While the chicken is cooking, prepare the salad. In a large salad bowl, combine the mixed greens, cucumber, cherry tomatoes, red onion, Kalamata olives, artichoke hearts, and avocado.
  4. In a small bowl, whisk together the olive oil, red wine vinegar, lemon juice, honey, garlic, salt, and pepper. Adjust the seasoning to taste.
  5. To assemble the salad, top the mixed greens with the grilled chicken slices. Drizzle the dressing over the salad and toss gently to combine. Serve immediately. Enjoy!
